I started my business about 3 1/2 years ago, and found that the running of a new business, both in the field and the administration and bookkeeping was quite a juggle. Ensuring that I had enough money for things like insurances, loans, vehicle and trailer registrations, business expenses such as fuel and materials – I always found it to be a week to week and month to month struggle. Finding my feet and trying to get up and running as quick and as effortless as possible was quite the dilemma. The hands on was fine, but the bookwork side needed some love. I decided to employ the services of Vanessa and her accounting team to help me with the back of house side of things. And I haven’t looked back.

We initially met Profit First when we began doing their IT work in 2019. After watching their processes, how much they can streamline your finance management, the whole finance side of your business, essentially, we decided to take them on board. Being time poor, we found that outsourcing that element of our business, our payroll, tax, GST, everything, gave us more time to focus on our business, and our customers, they took the weight off our shoulders of handling that come tax time in a year we knew it was all sorted. When you need their help, you know that they're on call ready to give you hand when you need it.

In the beginning, our practice of cash allocation was certainly not perfect and I did have a constant reminder from my wife that she had been telling me to use this process for years. business COVID hit me hard and my birthday (21/03/20) weekend away camping on was mostly spent answering calls from clients canceling bookings. In all I had 60 bookings for the rest of March and throughout April cancel. After that disappointing weekend my thoughts went to how am I going to cover my outgoings when I have just lost all my income. Vanessa worked very hard and we had some late night calls to try and claim job keeper and although I am up to date with all my tax and gst requirements job keeper/seeker was not available to me as I have not gained my permanent residency status yet. Vanessa straight away offered to help me and my business survive by allowing me to hibernate the business and allow me some relief on accounts. Things have turned around a bit with some help from many people including Vanessa and profit first I have diversified my business and am now delivering bespoke cheese & wine packages for 14 days of cheese and also picked Corporate courier work after their couriers let them down. I am now the preferred delivery partner of both a large local business and 14 Days of Cheese. As a result of my partnership with 14 Days of Cheese I thought it only right to supply Vanessa with a beautiful Homestay Rose pack with wine and 7 carefully paired cheeses for her to sample and enjoy with her family as a small gesture of thanks for helping and supporting me through the tough times. She was very helpful, explaining how they work, what the ongoing cost would be and when it would make the most sense to start working with them, Meanwhile, she helped me to get all of my bank accounts set up (as recommended in the book). Absolutely amazing team and customer service! I know nothing about taxes and struggle with all of this stuff but I usually try and attempt to lodge my tax return myself through MyGov. This year I wasn't able to because of some things that came up that I didn't understand so I went to an accountant for the first time ever to help me! OH MY GOD Profit First Accounting are so talented, incredible and have amazing customer service. I had some tax returns that were overdue and I also wanted to lodge this years tax return. I have a lot of anxiety and was nervous about lodging my late returns and thought I had a late fee but Edie worked through it all with me, calmed my nerves and assured me that it was all good! I struggled to understand how taxes and deductions work but Edie took the extra time to explain it all to me and was very kind, patient and helpful! Vanessa and Liza were also very helpful, gave me some extra tips and I had a lovely conversation with them! Vanessa even went above and beyond with her customer service by talking with me on the weekend to see what services I was after and how they could help! Overall, the team have such a warm and welcoming presence and are very skilled at what they do! I decided to go with Profit First Accounting because they had all 5 star reviews and these reviews really reflect this place!
